AdrenaCort: Adrenal tissue with licorice and other nutrients
  • AdrenaCort supplies a complex of factors that support the function of the adrenal glands, particularly the adrenal cortex.
  • Animal studies have shown oral adrenal extracts to produce similar effects as injectable extracts (Boll Chim Farm 1971;110:457-62).
  • Licorice contains compounds with mineralocorticoid activity which reduce the catabolism of glucocorticoids, thus extending their life and activity in the body (Endocrinology 1993;132:2287-92, Endocrin Regulations 1994;28:31-4).
  • Micronutrients known to be important for normal adrenal function include vitamin C, vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), magnesium, and zinc (Textbook of Natural Medicine, 1999, 549).
  • Bioflavonoids are antioxidants with an ascorbic acid-conserving effect that extends the life of adrenal medullary hormones such as epinephrine in the blood.
