Product description:
Devil's Claw Plus: Standardized Devil's Claw and B-vitamins for relief of musculoskeletal discomfort.
  • Devil's Claw is an African plant containing harpagoside and other antiinflammatory and analgesic constituents (Leung AY, Foster S.; Encyclopedia of Common Natural Ingredients Used in Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics, 2d ed. New York: John Wiley & Sons, 1996, 208-10).
  • Concentrated Devil's Claw extracts have improved pain control in patients with back disorders, similar to the effects of modern pain-relieving drugs (Phytomed 2000;7:177-83).
  • Devil's Claw has documented pain relief and inflammatory support effects, including inhibition of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. Standardized extracts containing high amounts of harpagosides have helped patients with occasional back pain become and remain pain-free with minimal side effects (Pain Clinic 1999;11:171-1780).
  • Reduced muscle stiffness and improved spinal mobility have also been demostrated after treatments with Devil's Claw extracts.
  • One double-blind study reported that Devil's Claw (600 or 1200 mg per day) was helpful in reducing low back pain (Phytomed 1996;3:1-10).
  • Vitamins B1, B6 and B12 appear to enhance the effectiveness of antiinflammatory agents in back pain and shorten the time required for pain relief therapy.
  • Vitamins B1, B6, and B12 have been shown to improve the response of spinal syndromes to therapy and help prevent relapses of spinal pain (Klin Wochenschr 1990;68:107-20, Ann NY Acad Sci 1990;585:54-62).
  • Vitamins B1, B6, and B12, as well as vitamin C, enhances the effectiveness of anti- inflammatories and appear to shorten the time required for therapy.
  • Vitamin C had been reported to be of benefit to patients with disc-related low back pain.
  • Vitamin C supplements were associated with optimal bone density in a recent population study of postmenopausal women (J Bone Miner Res 2001;16:135-40).
