Product description:
RespiClear: Respiratory mucous membrane protection.
  • RespiClear formula contains herbal extracts that help maintain normal respiratory system function (J Fam Practice 1999;48:628-35 [review]; Phytomedicine 1996;3:314-8).
  • Various RespiClear formula constituents stimulate the immune system, particularly of benefit in the winter months (Phytomedicine 1994;1:245-54 [review]).
  • Several micronutrients, including vitamin A (beta-carotene) and C, play vital roles in supporting normal immune function (Br J Nutr 2001;85:S75-80; Am J Clin Nutr 1997;66:460S-463S).
  • Vitamin C reduces irritation of inflamed mucous membranes (Scand J Infect Dis 1994;26:1-6).
  • Andrographis Paniculata has been used for centuries by Ayurvedic practitioners of India using the roots and/or leaves of the herb. It belongs to family Acanthaceae and is also used in Homeopathy. Andrographis Paniculata has been used to treat ailments ranging from poor digestion to hepatitis. In the Chinese medical tradition the plant has been used to treat everything from gastrointestinal complaints to throat infections. Although some early scientific studies suggested that andrographis has a direct antimicrobial action, the weight of clinical evidence now shows that the real value of this ancient herb is as a stimulant for the immune system.
  • The pharmacology of Andrographis Paniculata suggests that it increases biliary flow and liver weight in animal studies. Andrographolide, the active ingredient upon which extracts are standardized, produces a significant dose dependent choleretic effect, as evidenced by increase in bile flow, bile salt and bile acids in animal studies. It shows hepatoprotective action. It improves non-specific immune response. Extract of andrographis has been shown to stimulate powerful immune responses in living creatures. The immune response may be specific directed at a microbial invader already present in the body, or generally, strengthening the immune system in preparation against future infections. Andrographis strongly stimulates phagocytosis and the production of specific antibodies.
  • Three double-blind, placebo-controlled studies have found that andrographis significantly reduces the severity and/or duration of cold symptoms (Phytomedicine 1999;6:217-223, Phytomedicine 1996/1997;34:315-318, Phytother Res 1995;9:559-562, Phytomedicine 1997;4:101-104).
  • Preliminary studies suggest that andrographis may help protect the liver from toxic injury, perhaps more successfully than the more famous liver-protective herb milk thistle (J Ethnopharmacol 1993;40:131-136, Biochem Pharmacol 1993;46:182-185, Indian J Med Res 1990;92:276-283). It also appears to stimulate gallbladder contraction (Planta Med 1992;58:146-149).
  • Administration of Andrographis Paniculata showed protective effects in the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase as well the level of glutathione. The results indicate antioxidant and hepatoprotective action (Indian J Exp Biol 2001;39:41-46).
  • Preliminary studies in animals suggest that andrographis may offer benefits for preventing heart disease (Chin Med J (Engl) 1991,104:770-775, J Ethnopharmacol 1997;56:97-101, Chin Med J (Engl) 1994;107:464-470).
  • Andrographis has not been associated with any side effects in human studies. One study monitored changes in liver function, blood counts, kidney function, and other laboratory measures of toxicity (Phytomedicine 1997;4:101-104). Caution should be exercised in relation to possible anti-fertility effect.
  • Since time immemorial, the fragrant and tasty linden flowers have been used medicinally as a calming agent and to relieve indigestion, the common cold, and griping or colicky pain in the abdomen (Potter's New Cyclopaedia of Botanical Drugs and Preparations, CRC Handbook of Medicinal Herbs). Many of these uses have been confirmed or partially confirmed in modern research.
  • Clinical trials have shown that linden flower tea can help people with mild gallbladder problems (but not gallstones), upset stomach or dyspepsia, and excessive gas (Arzneim Forsch 1963;13:222-5, Hospital (Rio J) 1970;77:141-7). Linden's reputed antispasmodic action, particularly in the intestines, has been confirmed in at least one human trial (Tiliae silvestris alburnum. Clin Ter 1963;25:438-44).
  • The German Commission E has approved linden flower for the treatment of colds and cold-related coughs (The Complete German Commission E Monographs: Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines).
  • The berries of Sambucus nigra (elder) are important traditional remedies for supporting healthy immune system function, particularly in the winter months.
  • Preliminary evidence indicates that elderberry extract inhibits several strains of influenza virus in vitro, and helps the body recover from viral exposure (J Alt Compl Med 1995;1:361-9).
  • Ginger, elder berry and other components of RespiClear formula optimize antiviral defenses (J Alt Comp Med 1995;1:361-9).
  • Ginger root contains physiologically active compounds, such as the aromatic constituents zingiberene and bisabolene, and the pungent gingerols and shogaols.
  • Ginger root is a useful remedy for relieving nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness (Acta Otolaryngol 1988;105:45-9), pregnancy (Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol 1990;38:19-24.), and surgical anaesthesia (Anaesthesia 1995;23:449-52).
  • Ginger root also enhances digestion by promoting effective gastrointestinal motility (Int J Clin Pharmacol Ther 1999;37:341-6).
  • Ginger inhibits the synthesis of 2-series prostanoids without harming the gastrointestinal tract, unlike aspirin and convention NSAIDS (Am J Chinese Med 1989;17:51-6.). This may allow ginger to have significant platelet-dampening effects that protect vascular health (Prostagland Leukotrienes Essential Fatty Acids 1997;56:379-84.) as well as antiinflammatory effects in joint tissue (Osteoarthritis Cartilage 2000;8:9-12).
  • Ginger acts as a mild cholagogue (promoter of bile flow), digestive tonic, carminative and general complement to other remedies.
  • Clinical interest in Echinacea extract is evidenced by dozens of research studies on its therapeutic properties.
  • Extracts of Echinacea species contain polysaccharides, alkylamides/polyacetylenes and caffeic acid derivatives that have immune stimulating effects such as proliferation of natural killer cells and monocytes, activation of macrophages, and production of cytokines (Int J Immunopharmacol 1997;19:371-9; Immunpharmacol 1997;35:229-35; J Natl Cancer Inst 1989;81:669-75).
  • Numerous clinical studies attest to the benefits of Echinacea for providing relief and restoring normal upper respiratory function after exposure to common viruses (J Fam Pract 1999;48:628-35).
  • RespiClear formula is delivered as an easy-to-take liquid and is suitable for children and adults.
