Tocotrienols: Full-spectrum natural Vitamin E isomers for cardiovascular and antioxidant protection.
- Tocotrienols inhibit the rate-limiting enzyme of cholesterol biosynthesis (HMG-CoA reductase) and may thus help control blood cholesterol levels (J Med Chem 1992;35:3595-606).
- Rice bran oil may improve plasma lipid and lipoprotein profiles, possibly due to its content of antioxidant compounds such as gamma-oryzanol and tocotrienols (Biomed Environ Sci 1996;9:242-6).
- Supplementary tocotrienols exert antioxidant effects in humans (Lipids 1995;30:1179-83).
- Tocotrienols induce apoptosis in certain human cells. Apoptosis is the natural mechanism of cellular growth control (Nutr Cancer 1999;33:26-32).
